Thoughts of Peace?
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”
Jeremiah 29:11 KJV
I read this scripture this morning, as I have in times past. It’s funny how you can read a particular scripture over and over, and then one day something jumps out at you. This scripture seems pretty straightforward to most I am sure, but the part about God having thoughts of PEACE toward me?! Even with all my mess, and the ignorant decisions that surely grieved God, and yet He says...”thoughts I think toward you...thoughts of peace...not of evil” He wants peace for me?!
I began to think. I am supposed to be like God, I am supposed to represent who He is, and yet when people have done me wrong, or upset me in some way, I haven’t really had thoughts of peace toward them. I haven’t really prayed for those who don’t like me. I am supposed to be a representative of His love towards others. God help me to have thoughts of peace towards those that would mean to harm me! Help me to love those who despise me. Thoughts of peace and not of evil for those who would rather see me fall.
In this Christian School we choose to have peace. Bethel Christian Academy strives to be like Jesus. We try our very best to show the love of God to our students and our staff! Peace in our learning center, peace in our chapel services, and peace in the school in general. We also pray peace in the lives of our students and their families. We pray everyday that God would bless and walk with them everyday!
