Education + Christianity
Someone has said, “Education without christianity only makes men clever devils.” Education is essential if people are to enjoy a civilized society. When people learn more about the world around them, it usually creates a more healthy and peaceful environment. Conversely, without education and therefore without the accompanying blessing of civilization, people become savage in their relationships. Subtract christianity from education, and you may still have civilization, but is is a civilization without morals and without decency. A civilization without morals and decency creates a hostile climate of dysfunction. James describes this wisdom as ”not descending from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish” (James 3:15).
Proverbs 1:7 says, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge.” Therefore we can only deduce that without the fear of the LORD, knowledge, namely education and higher education, will be deficient and will not produce a civilization where people are decent and peaceful. For this reason let us do everything we can to give our young people a christian education.
